For years and years I’ve been trying to find the perfect facial products for skin like mine. I have very acne prone skin, so I have to be careful what I use. I change my regimen all the time, just to see how other products affect my skin. My face is pretty oily, I have a lot of blemishes and acne marks, so those are the things I look to fix when it comes to purchasing skincare products.
In the morning…
The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is wash my face. Right now I’ve really been diggin’ Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple. It’s light enough to keep my skin from irritating, but strong enough to help sooth my skin and make it feel super clean. I definitely suggest this face wash because it is great for all skin types. I squirt about a dime sized circle onto my Clarisonic Mia 3 and gently scrub my face until time is up. On my Clarisonic I have the Pore Cleansing brush , but I don’t think I’m liking that one as much as I like the classic brush head. I just prefer a firmer brush than a softer one. I worship my Clarisonic by the way, I’ve been using it for about 8 months and it’s really done a lot for my skin. It’s worth every penny.
After I do that, it is time to moisturize. Moisturizing your face is super important. Think about not drinking anything all day long. How thirsty would you be? That is how often your skin needs to be moisturized. Hydrating your skin is what helps it work at its absolute best. When your skin functions well, its cells will fix themselves and then start producing fresh cells. The way you age in the future will be a result of how much you moisturized when you were younger! My current moisturizer is Philosophy’s Renewed Hope in a Jar. Although this one is a bit on the pricey side, a little bit goes a real long way. I only use a small dab of it for my entire face. I think I can hear my skin thanking me for quenching its thirst every time I use it. It’s soothing and makes my skin feel super silky smooth. I can tell after using it for a few months now that my face is producing less oil than before.

In the morning I have pretty intense dark circles. For that, I’ve been using Shiseido’s White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream. It brightens up your eyes after a great nights rest and is also good for wrinkles. This is actually the first eye cream I’ve ever used, I’m open to trying more though. I know I’m not getting any younger so I thought I’d give this one a shot after a consultant gave me a few samples. So far so good!

In The Evening…
Before bed or in the evening when I am ready to wind down, I wipe my face down with any make-up remover wipe. Right now I’m using Neutrogena’s Night Calming Cleansing Cloths. For years I used to wipe my face down with one and then go straight to bed thinking that it was clean enough. It resulted in break outs and redness. It wasn’t until I got my Clarisonic that I realized I really wasn’t removing everything. This is why I do both. After I clean my face with the makeup removing wipe, I proceed to wash my face the way I do in the morning with my Clarisonic. It’s crazy how much dirt and makeup I was missing!

Depending on what my skin is feeling like is how I determine what product I’m gonna use after washing my face. Every other day I like to use the classic Sea Breeze for Sensitive Skin. This stuff has been around since way before I was born so you know it’s good. If you’ve never heard of this, Sea Breeze is an astringent that strips trapped dirt and oil from the depths of your skin. I only use it every other day because it can be very very drying. If I’m gonna be putting Sea Breeze on my face, I don’t do any other masks or peels for that night. Oh, and if you’re gonna use this, you absolutely HAVE to moisturize. No exceptions. So, I take a cotton ball or cotton square (whatever I have readily available), squirt a bit of Sea Breeze on it and just simply rub on layer all over my face. It may sting a little bit, but I’m not a wimp, that just means it’s working. I moisturize immediately after.

When it seems like my skin is feeling kind of icky, kind of dry, a rough texture. I know that it is time to exfoliate. For this I use a peel. I try to do it 2 times a week, but it usually ends up only being once a week. Don’t use these products too much, you don’t want to over shed your skin. Exfoliating your skin is important because dead skin cells need to be removed in order to keep your pores clean and unclogged. I rotate between two products I really like. The first one is one that was introduced to me by one of those pushy guys at the mall who works at those kiosks. Yeah, I wanted to just ignore him but my friend got caught in his web so I had to stay. He was really nice and totally pulled me in. I got it for way cheaper than what they sell it for online so unfortunately I can’t refer you to a better price. It truly is magic though. It’s part of The Gold Collection from MicaBeauty and it’s called the Exfoliating Facial Peel. It has actual gold dust inside of it. Ooh la la! All you do is pump no more than two squirts onto your fingertips and rub it on your face gently in a circular motion. After a few seconds you will see this flaky residue form, that is your dead skin! Pretty stellar right? After you’ve rubbed it all in, wipe or rinse off and continue to the moisturizing step. You feel like a new person after using this because you know you just got rid of a layer of nastiness that was preventing your sexy skin from showing off. As you can see in the photo I have what looks like just a little bit left. I’ve had this stuff for over 2 years, it lasts forever!

Another peel that is amazing but no where near as expensive as the last is Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel. I had the opportunity to try this when I bought a gift set that also included Purity Made Simple and Renewed Hope In A Jar. This set is the best deal if you want to try any of these products. Check it out on the link below. The Microdelivery Peel is a two-step system. First you apply a teaspoon sized amount of the vitamin c peptide crystals onto your face. They feel like a very fine face scrub. To prevent irritation, please make sure you are softly massaging this stuff into your face rather than scrubbing it. It can be very harsh to your skin if you over do it. After you’ve been massaging your face for about 60 seconds, grab the activating gel. Place about a quarter size onto your fingertips. Apply this on top of the crystals. It will foam, it will feel warm, and it will feel weird. After about 3 minutes of letting the vitamin c seep into your skin, rinse off, pat dry and then moisturize. This product will show you the meaning of true exfoliation. I love it so much. I don’t think my face has ever felt as clean as it did when I first used this peel.

Stick with the plan…
I believe it is very crucial to take the time to care for your skin. There are times when I get super lazy and the last thing I want to do is take my make up off. On my off days I don’t really do anything if I’m lazy, nor do I wear makeup, so I forget to wash my face like I usually should. It takes less than 5 minutes to do this, and in the long run your skin will stay beautiful and youthful. Don’t you want to glow?
