I try my best to stick with a no red meat diet Monday through Friday. I slip up a lot, but for dinner tonight I thought I’d go ahead and do the right thing. I suggested turkey burgers for dinner and my husband agreed! They came out so moist and yummy. Turkey burgers tend to be a bit dry, but these came out perfect!
In a bowl I mixed some organic ground turkey, one egg to bind, a small bit of salt (I added more later), black pepper, white pepper, creole seasoning, worcestershire sauce, cayenne, paprika, poultry seasoning, fresh oregano, fresh parsley and minced garlic. I know, it seems like a lot but turkey is a bit harder to build flavor for than ground beef.
Heat up a skillet or grill pan to medium-high heat. Once hot, salt the surface of your turkey patty one more time and set into the pan with oil. One thing I like to do is take a spatula and press down onto the patty firmly to get a nice sear on the other side. It also helps the inside cook a little faster. About 3-5 minutes on each side should be good.
I like it hot, and those who know me know I do. So I added serrano peppers to my patty. Totally optional.
Throw some cheese on that…… I used american. If you have a pan safe bowl place it over your patties to get your cheese a meltin’ fast. We honestly just used our stand mixer bowl. Haha.
I like to toast my buns on a pan with butter. I added mayo and sriracha mustard. Threw on some mixed greens and sit my little turkey patty in its little nest.
Put it all together and ate it all up!
