Review: Dinner Down The Street at Irons Table + Tavern

Last night we thought we’d drop by to try Iron’s Table + Tavern.  Located at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Navy-Marine Golf course, it was literally a 4 minute drive out.  On top of that, all the food here is cooked to order and completely made from scratch.  The food here is all organic, locally grown, non-GMO and hormone-free.  The restaurant overlooks the beautiful golf course filled with swaying palm trees and folks enjoying their golf games.  My husband enjoyed this place just as much as I did.  What made it even better was that it is so close to home.  20160508_184137.jpg

To drink I ordered the Blueberry Basil Lemonade.  Such a refreshing cocktail.  It took a while, so our wonderful waiter Conrad politely apologized to tell us that the bartender had to go outside to pick the blueberries because he ran out!  I thought he was kidding but he was so serious.

For our appetizer we ordered the red pepper calamari.  This was served on a sizzling skillet.  The calamari is NOT breaded.  I was so thankful for that because I was for sure it was gonna fill my tummy before the food got to the table.  It was stuffed with mozzarella cheese and pan seared with tomatoes, pepperoncinis and onions, and then splashed with lemon juice. This was so delicious!  We were literally scraping the cheese off of the skillet with our forks!  It was amazing!

For dinner I ordered the mixed seafood pan roast.  It was an etouffee-like stew that consisted of shrimp, crab, fish and squid in a tomato cream sauce and served with a scoop of rice.  This was so delicious and so filling!

Kevin ordered the prime rib.  It was served with a flavorful horseradish sauce with mashed potatoes and accompanied with au jus.  He ate every bit of it, but said that it was a little bland.  The sauce and au jus helped though.

For our sides, we ordered creamed spinach.  It was great.  I ordered the stuffed mushrooms with a garlic and gorgonzola cream sauce.  Those were outstanding!  The gorgonzola really set it off.

Although we were full as could be, we had to see what the dessert menu was like.  The second the waiter said “creme brulee”, I knew that is what I wanted.  This was pretty much the best creme brulee I’ve ever had.  It was so rich and so warm.  I wish I had two!  So yummy!

There is no doubt in my mind that we will be here again!  It was great and our waiter Conrad was the best!  Super sweet and super personable!  If you are in the area you should definitely try it!
