July 23 is the date my babies Apollo and Bella were born. They turned 2 this year and I thought I’d whip them up some homemade puppy treats. This quick and simple recipe takes a jiffy to bake and will have your pups begging for more. I like the thought of making my own dog treats because I know of every ingredient that is being put in. My dogs eat better than I do! The second I ask them if they want a cookie they go absolutely nuts. Although they probably have no idea what we’re celebrating, I like to pretend they do.
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a stand mixer (or by hand) add 2 1/2 cups of wheat flour, rice flour or coconut flour. Unfortunately I didn’t have any of these on hand, all purpose flour is just fine. I just suggest the healthier route when it comes to your fur babies. With that, combine 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 egg. Once that mixture is fully combined, add 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of honey.
Using your hands, a paddle or dough hook attachment on your stand mixer, stir until your dough is stiff. This dough will be sticky.
On a floured surface, roll out your dough to about a 1/2 inch thick.
With some cookie cutters, cut out some fun shapes. Your dog will eat them in whatever shape they’re in I’m sure.
Bake for about 20 minutes until they are golden brown.
Let them cool and let the munching begin! These also make great gifts for your fellow dog lovers! Hope your fur babies enjoy!
