My sister and my niece came over for dinner to enjoy some delicious lamb with roasted potatoes and asparagus. Knowing my 10 year old niece, it’s hard to get some nutritious greenery in her system. So, I thought I’d add a delightful element to my asparagus. Cheese! This recipe is super easy! She still was a little uneasy about eating the disguised veggie, but everyone else seemed to think it was okay. In my opinion, I love asparagus in its natural state. The less the better. I just thought I’d try this out to see if it could change her opinion on my favorite vegetable ever.
It all began in 2000, the original Magnolia Pancake Haus opened it’s doors to the San Antonio public and the good word was spread across the city. In 2006, it became way too small to accommodate everyone that wanted to enjoy, so a bigger one across the way was born. There is now 2 locations in the San Antonio area. If this place sounds familiar to you, it may be because it was featured by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2011. This only made the restaurant more popular than it already was. You can find some of the best pancakes ever at The Magnolia Pancake Haus. That’s not all though, their menu is filled with other traditional and unique breakfast items that will keep your tummy happy. Some of the best breakfast I’ve ever had in my life.
After a nice Saturday of cookie decorating with my family, Kevin and I thought we’d head out to The Pearl once again to try out a delicious restaurant and grab some dessert. We stopped by Southerleigh, it consists of a modern cuisine with a Southern Texan twist. It took over the bottom floor of what used to be The Pearl brewhouse. It is famous for their interesting grub and the variety of beers they have on tap. After dinner, we stopped by Bakery Lorraine right before they closed. All they really had left were macarons, which isn’t bad… but I’ll get into all of that later.
Now that Kevin works a shift where he can actually cook my pregnant and hungry self a yummy dinner, he’s been throwing down in The Moore Kitchen. Today we ran to H-E-B, our local grocery store and picked up some beautiful prime filets. He cooked and seasoned them perfectly. Along with those, we enjoyed some roasted rainbow carrots and yummy red potatoes. We did almost burn the house down at one point, but I’ll get more into that later. Here’s how he cooked this perfect dinner.
After one of our daily morning walks around the Quarry Market, Kevin and I ran by Bird Bakery for a yummy dose of coffee and cupcakes. My absolute favorite cupcakes ever. I hadn’t had some in over three years and I thought is was the perfect morning to grab me some. The best part about this place is that they use all the finest ingredients and everything is always 100% fresh. It is a no-no in the Bird Bakery world to sell a cupcake that is even a day old. Everything is made bright and early in the morning for the day. Continue reading “A Quick Trip To Bird Bakery”
